About the event

Vargas Print Studio is an exclusive working space focused on traditional hand pulled printmaking techniques such as intaglio, relief and silkscreen printing. The workshop space intends to enable professional artists, designers and future artists to create, produce and share professional technical knowledge, exploring new ways of artistic dialogue with the contemporary printmaking scene. Providing professional guidance and affordable workspace, Vargas Print Studio supports artistic production and creative practices, involving different fields of knowledge. 

This October, Vargas Print Studio offers a 2 day (10h) series of workshops. Each workshop is 120€ per person, including refreshments p/person (not including materials such as paper, cooper, lino and photographic emulsion for silkscreen). Limited to 2 person p/workshop. 12. - 13.10 Silkscreen print

In this workshop, the participants will learn what the possibilities of this technique, what are the main materials to be used, how to maintain them, to expose frames, print and cleaning procedures for future independent practice. In this course, participants will manually create positives for screen exposure to UV light. Advanced photographic digital procedures in Adobe software will not be taught.

14. - 15.10 Linocut

Participants will learn how to create and transfer an image to lino, cut it properly, print it and create a small 2 colour edition on paper. Participants will have access to professional tools, colours and equipment for further independent practice. Professional printmakers and artists can use the time to explore the technique at its most and are able to produce editions on paper during the workshop time, with or without professional guidance.

26. - 27.10 Monotype

Participants will learn different ways of creating monotypes by inking, subtracting, drawing and printing. Participants will have access to professional tools, colours and equipment for further independent practice. Professional printmakers and artists can use the time to explore the technique at its most and are able to produce editions on paper during the workshop time, with or without professional guidance.

30. - 31.10 Drypoint

In this workshop, participants will learn the principles of drypoint, its instruments and methods. Participants will learn how to draw in metal, ink and produce a small edition on paper under professional guidelines, tools and equipment. Participants will have access to professional tools, colours and equipment for further independent practice. Professional printmakers and artists can use the time to explore the technique at its most and are able to produce editions on paper during the workshop time, with or without professional guidance.

All of these workshops are limited to 2 people at the time and are tailored according to the participant’s level of knowledge in printmaking. Preference will be given by order of registering.
