How does Vargas Print Studio work?

You can always contact us for a more specific workshop. For example, we can experiment techniques such as mokulitho, chine-collé application with Japanese paper, paper litho, monotypia, etching, soft ground, sugarlift, aquatint, woodcut, linocut, foil application on paper, textiles, t-shirt printing...etc!

There are many ways of creating at Vargas Print Studio!

 

Please look at the renting fees and assistance fees beforehand.

 

Schedule a time and let's create together! If you are a professional artist with experience with printing methods, you can also rent the facilites.

 

For consulting, please schedule a time and consult the price with the director.​

​

Vargas Print Studio does not print for other artists, but instead, teaches and assists other artists on how to make prints on their own. After this, professionals can work on their own steam, under agreed schedule.

​

We speak Finnish, English, Portuguese, Italian, French and if necessary Spanish!

Children are welcome too, but only with their parents due to the sharp edges of the equipment.

* The screens are individual and users should bring their own. Screen stock is limited according to the use for workshops, guest artists and conservation / maintenance states.

Intaglio and relief print facilities*

Induction Session

(1 hour, mandatory for new users): 45 eur/person.**

 

Daily Access

(from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.): 45 eur p/hour (minimum 3h p/day/person).

 

Editioning Assistance: 45 eur/hour.***

 

Security Deposit

(Autonomous Access/Residency): 50 eur/person.****

 

Vargas Print Studio provides solvents, newspapers, cleaning rags and other consumables, as well as printmaking preparation tools, for workshop use only. Inks, special materials and paper can be bought directly to the studio, or brought by the user.

 

Normal and reasonable use of materials and resources is taken into account when establishing workshop access prices.

 

* No VAT is included to the prices (VAT 24%).

** Prices do not include insurance (mandatory) for users/participants of workshop activities.

*** Editioning assistance includes help in paper preparation, printing and finishing of work.

**** The Security Deposit will be returned upon verification of workshop conditions at check out.

Frame washing (shadows and maintenance):
Some frames have difficult mesh and its maintenance use and care affect the quality of the mesh. Cleaning the mesh is made with national products especially for silkscreen print and the washing quality depends on the condition of the frame from which we are not responsible of. We do not clean the frame itself, only the mesh.

Other materials such as tesa tape, inks, positives and screens are individual.

 - Prices do not include printing materials such as tapes, cling paper, cleaners, etc. There are common protection materials needed for working with screen-printing.

 - Price list is for individuals. For commercial purposes, 25% is added.

 - Prices do not include insurance (mandatory) for users/participants of workshop activities.

** Non-cancellable reservation will be charged at full price if not done 7 days before.

***Assistance help in paper preparation, printing and finishing of work.

**** The Security Deposit will be returned upon verification of workshop conditions at check out.

Note: 

Ask separately for courses to rita.vargas(a)gmail.com. Private courses are also possible.

The workshop is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday, subject to prior booking.

Sessions are booked, at least, three days in advance by making a 70€ of deposit. Unfortunately, the deposit will not be return in case of canceling.

We can provide inks, plates and various papers, subject to prior arrangement.
